Chance Farm: Feast Purveyor Highlight

Chance Farms Feast Purveyor

If you’ve ever savored our grilled cauliflower wedge or relished the rich flavors of our roasted beet salad, then you’ve likely enjoyed the delicious bounty from our local purveyors.

At Feast Raw Bar & Bistro, we’re passionate about thoughtfully featuring produce from local purveyors into our curated menu. Each dish is a celebration of the quality ingredients they provide, and we love infusing these local flavors into our dining experience.

A local purveyor we’re proud to partner with is Chance Farm, an organic vegetable farm located, here, in Bozeman, Montana. Discover more about Chance Farm and see how their organic produce contributes to making us one of the best places to eat in Bozeman.

About Chance Farm

A thriving organic vegetable farm, Chance Farm was started by Josh Chance in 2018. Having lived in the Rocky Mountain region for over 15 years, Josh found his love for growing food during a permaculture design course in Boulder, Colorado. This passion led him to spend six years working with farms throughout Colorado, Vermont, and Texas until eventually settling in the Gallatin Valley.

“Throughout my growing journey, I have learned that there are so many facets to explore and evolve in producing for the local community as a farmer and business owner. That is what energizes me in my journey.”
Josh Chance, Owner Chance Farms*

Nestled right outside Bozeman city boundaries and tended by a dedicated crew, Chance Farm spans four acres, featuring six high tunnels, three caterpillar tunnels, and a packhouse. Their team specializes in cultivating over 30 varieties of vegetables, ranging from arugula and basil to microgreens and zucchini. Their mission is to help people develop a deeper appreciation for their food by “growing high-quality vegetables using organic practices and good land stewardship to bolster soil biology.”

How We Use Chance Farm Produce

At Feast, we’re dedicated to using only the freshest, most flavorful ingredients in our menu. That’s why Chance Farm’s produce is a perfect fit for our bistro. The care and commitment to following organic practices and implementing good land stewardship is evident in every delicious bite of beet, microgreen, and herb they grow. We’re proud to incorporate their produce, which enhances and elevates our plates.

If you’re curious to try some of the delicious, mouthwatering produce from Chance Farm, just ask your server about our dishes that feature their ingredients. Your server will be eager to point out which items on our menu are sourced locally and specifically from Chance Farm.

Why We Favor Locally Sourced Ingredients

Our uncompromising dedication to providing our guests with a remarkable dining experience is the driving force behind our partnerships with local purveyors. We know that using locally sourced ingredients not only enhances the flavors in our dishes—it also positively affects our community.

First, sourcing local ingredients benefits the environment. By reducing the distance our ingredients travel, we lessen our environmental impact and decrease water and air pollution from long-distance transport. Also, using local ingredients helps boost our local economy. By supporting our local farms, we help reinvest in our community, which contributes to economic growth and fostering sustainable practices. Additionally, it’s shown that locally sourced ingredients retain their nutrient density better than those that undergo lengthy trips. This ensures that ingredients are fresher and more nutritious.

Chef and co-owner Steve Kuntz explains it this way, “One of the most important things for local businesses to do is support each other. It keeps the synergy of local dollars staying local when we can take our money and give it to a local farmer—we’re helping keep them in business, and we’re providing ourselves with the opportunity for our bistro to carry their incredible products.”
